It was discovered by J. Mellaart in 1952 and stated as one of the major Chalcolithic Age settlements of South Anatolia. According to Mellaart; the collected sherds resemble the Late Chalcolithic Age potsherds of Beysehir-Seydisehir and the finds of the first layer of Can Hasan Höyük. After 1954; J. Mellaart claimed that there were not any Chalcolithic Age settlements. Therefore; the mound is one of the debatable sites for the Chalcolithic Age. The site dates to the 8/9th phases in ASPRO.
