| It locates 100 m southeast of Bekdemir Village; east of Beysehir District of Konya Province. This site; which is also known as Rekdemir Höyük lies by the southeast corner of Beysehir Lake. It was discovered by J. Mellaart in 1951. Some Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age sherds were found at the site in addition to the Neolithic majority. The mound yielded a burnished miniature celt made from nephrite. Although Mellaart believes this tool is impossible to date; he compares it to the Mersin Yumuktepe XXVI miniature celt. This site; which has been listed among the Neolithic sites in the Göller (Lakes) Region; is also among the Late Chalcolithic sites in the region in ASPRO. More work needs to be conducted on the Neolithic at this site. It is also known as Begtemür or Rekdemir Höyük. |
