The site lies on the western shore of the Asagiakça Lake; about 1 km east of the village of Arikligöl; district of Bismil; province of Diyarbakir. It is on the slightly declining slopes of Akçagöl hill; immediately at the side of the old Bismil-Salat road. It was discovered in 2001 by a team leaded by H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Ilisu Dam Reservoir Region". According to 8 biface tools; 3 chopping tools; 7 cores; and 11 blades and flakes; the site belongs to the Lower Palaeolithic. Code S60/60. |
