The site is in the village of Sagliksuyu in the district of Dogubeyazit; province of Agri. It lies at the border of the Dogubeyazit plain; facing the western side of the Büyük Agri Dagi; at an altitude of 1590 m. It was investigated in 2002 by C. Marro and A. Özfirat during the Pre-Classical Survey in Eastern Turkey. The presence of incised and grooved black-polished pottery of typical Kuro-Araxes manufacture has attested EBA III [Marro-Özfirat 2003:391]. Pots are slightly carinated with a black-polished surface and a gray interior. Motifs are incised on the upper part and grooved on the lower part of the body; under the carnation. Densely applied geometric elements; such as loops and ladders; are available. EBA II is represented by a typical Nakhichevan lug as well as small handled pots. Simple incised decoration is also seen. Both EBA III and EBA III pottery productions are hand made and fine grit tempered. The evidence for EBA I is not clear. A number of Kuro-Araxes sherds seem much earlier than the EBA II-III wares. But these low-collared jars with a simple; slightly reverted rim resemble Late Chalcolithic more than EBA I types. A large necked jar with a slightly flaring collar and a horizontal lug is also alien to the Kuro-Araxes repertoire. All these pots share the technical specifies of the Early Transcaucasian ware; but not its typological characteristics. It is suggested that these might represent some kind of proto-Kuro-Araxian ware [Marro-Özfirat 2003:391]. Sagliksuyu has also yielded some Middle Bronze and Early Iron Age sherds.
