The site is located in Hazine Tepe Mevkii; in the village of Hanago in the district of Igdir. It controls the road linking Igdir to Dogubeyazit on the western flank of the Agri Dag. The settlement seems to have been a flat site or a small mound built on top of the lava ridges. It was investigated in 2002 by C. Marro and A. Özfirat during the Pre-Classical Survey in Eastern Turkey. According to the pottery collected; the site seems to have been first occupied during the first half of the 4th millennium BC. Later one or several kurgans were built on the top of the mound. The majority of the finds consists of chaff-faced ware; mainly buff; brown or beige in color. The pottery repertoire is mainly composed of bowls and jars; seemingly of earlier date than the typical Amuq F material. However; the examples with combed decoration applied on to exterior; which is sometimes associated with impressions; do not seem to have clear parallels anywhere else so far [Marro-Özfirat 2003:390]. Also encountered from the site were a few grit-tempered sherds of quite distinct; finer and denser fabric; beige to dark-gray in color. These sherds have a line of incised decoration over the rim. They closely resemble a piece found at Tilkitepe II and dated to the first half of the 4th millennium. This date is also consistent with the earliest phases of the Amuq F phase [Marro-Özfirat 2003:390].
