Interpretation and Dating: M. Özdogan assigns the Bulgar Kaynagi materials to the Early Fikirtepe phase. The amount of the surface materials collected is not informed; only five ceramics were published. The materials of Early Fikirtepe or the "Archaic Fikirtepe" are only known from Fikirtepe and Pendik settlements; they were not encountered in the Thrace until now [Özdogan 1999:213]. Özdogan assumes that Bulgar Kaynagi; as well as a few materials encountered in the earliest levels of Asagi Pinar; must be included in the Thrace phase of Early Fikirtepe. Because the site is completely destroyed; there is no possibility of further studies.
