Karadere II is in Gaziantep province; Karkamis district. It is located in immediately east of the bridge by which the Keleklioglu (Þara)-Tilhabes village road goes over Karadere Stream. The site is a hill that resembles a mound [Taskiran 2002:418]. Karadere is one of the local streams that flow both in summer and winter. Thus; irrigation is done in the fields surrounding it [Taskiran 2002:418]. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). Palaeolithic finds are very sparse on the summit and the slopes of the hill. A very large; typical biface tool was found on the western slope. A core and four flakes were also collected from the site [Taskiran 2002:418]. Code W48/41.
