This site is in Gaziantep province; Karkamis district; Yukari Bayindir (Kini) village. It is located in the area where the dry stream beds of Haradan Stream and Kiraç Stream join [Taskiran 2002:424]. Haradan Stream rises from the eastern slopes of the Itdagi Mountain; flows towards the northeast and joins Kiraç Stream in Bayindir Village; and flows into Euphrates [Taskiran 2002:424]. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). The materials were found in an area with an altitude of c. 400 m. Most of the finds (23) consists of bifaced tools in various forms [Taskiran 2002:424]. Code W48/27. |
