Haci Karaçali Tarlasi is in Gaziantep province; Karkamis district; Keleklioglu (Sara) Village. It is located north of the junction where the Keleklioglu-Tilhabes village road turns to Büyüksemik. The site lies about 350 m northeast of Palaeolithic site Kömeçli II. The field belongs to Haci Karaçali from Keleklioglu Village. It is bordered on the north by widely set grapevines and on the wet by a big irrigation channel. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). Total 132 Palaeolithic finds were gathered. 25 of these are bifacial tools. |
