Göçem Mevkii is in Gaziantep province; Karkamis district. It is located 1 km east of Hameyli Tepe and Gülkaya villages [Taskiran 2002:422]. The fields through the ridges of Sakarkaya include numerous finds until the railroad. But the materials are more densely seen on the southern slopes facing the Kerzin Creek. These finds become rare through the eastern (through the railroad) slopes of the Sakarkaya ridge. The area where the materials were densely found is called Göçem Mevkii [Taskiran 2002:422]. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). A total of 80 finds were gathered [Taskiran 2002:422]. Code W48/32. |
