Esmeli Dere is in Gaziantep province; Karkamis district. It is located 1 km southeast of Kini Mahallesi in Yukari Bayindir Village. Esmeli Stream originates from the northeast slopes of Itdagi Mountain; joins Çukurkoyak Stream in Kini and flows into the Euphrates. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). Materials were found on the gardens that belong to Ahmet Albayindir; on the south of Esmeli Stream. Total 77 finds were gathered and they generally represent the Lower and the Middle Palaeolithic [Taskiran 2002:424]. Code W48/26.
