It is in the City of Gaziantep; Karkamis District; about 1-1.5 km north of the Gürçay Village that will be affected by the dam and evacuated. The site is located about 250 m northeast of the houses built in the new village area Külye Mevkii. It is 350-400 m high. This site was discovered in 2000 by a team under H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). Materials were found scattered on the fields covered with pine trees that lie through the northeast of the irrigation channel. Most of the 23 finds that were collected consist of cores and biface tools. Code W48/49. |
