The site is a pistachio field; which is located in Sanliurfa province; Birecik district and 500 m north of Akarcay (Tibil) village. There are finds on the southwest slopes of Aligaso Tepe towards the Hedu stream and along the banks of the stream itself. The site was discovered in 2000 by a team leaded by H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). The chipped stone collected appears to belong the Lower and Middle Palaeolithic; and comprises six bifaces; two trihedrons (picks); seven cores and four flakes [Taskiran-Kartal 2001:522].
