It is located in Degirmenönü Mevkii; immediately north of Özkonak Beldesi in the district of Avanos; province of Nevsehir. It was discovered during the survey carried out by S.Y. Senyurt in 1998. The settlement lies on the eastern bank of the stream that flows towards the north of the village; on the small valley terrace and the slope running down the stream. It measures 100x150 m together with the terrace and probably is a flat settlement with one or two layers. The flint collected shows the presence of a Neolithic and Chalcolithic settlement. Neolithic; Chalcolithic; EBA and a small number of Roman and Byzantine pottery sherds were also found [Senyurt 2000:371]. |
