The site is located north of Topçam Dam nearby Cumali Village in Çine district; Aydin province. The site lies in southwest-northeast direction. It measures 200 m in northeast-southwest and 45 m in north-south directions and is 10 m high. The southern and western parts are covered with olive trees. The top of the hill is a wheat field and the southern and western parts are terraced. This site was discovered in 1995 by E. Akdeniz during a survey in Büyük Menderes Plain Region. It includes Lower; Middle; Upper Epipalaeolithic and Byzantine Periods. Flint is abundant on the surface. Among the flint tools; Middle Palaeolithic tools were determined. Besides the Middle Palaeolithic tools; it is mentioned that Lower; Upper and Epipalaeolithic were found. Also sherds dating to later periods were encountered. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
