The site is located about 1 km northwest of Barbaros village; 15 km west of district of Urla; north of the city center of Izmir. The settlement lies on a rough area; which has deep and wide terraces to the south; and its location can hardly be noticed. The village of Birgi is to the southwest of the site. The ceramics are scattered over a wide area. The site was discovered by the Urla Limantepe excavation team during the research conducted in the region. The Neolithic Period ceramics are red; gray and black washed and burnished; like the other settlements in the region. S profiled; sharp-necked bowls; rounded or tube shaped pierced lugs are typical. Pierced lugs with very long tube shaped holes; which are known from Ayio Gala in Chios Island; were also encountered in Barbaros. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
