It stands on a hill called Güngörmez; 4 km southeast of Üçyol Village; south of Ordu Province. It consists of three mounds adjacent to each other. To its south flows the Güngören stream. It was discovered during the 1993 Ordu-Mesudiye survey conducted by M. Özsait. Exteriorly and interiorly reddish-brown washed; burnished EBA pottery was collected from the surface of Güngörmez I. To the east lies another mound. It measures 2 m in height and 40x50 m in dimensions. And; it is called Yukari Güngörmez II. Deformed; some semi-fired; some semi-burnt and some slaggy as a result of melting EBA pottery was collected from the surface. Presence of kilns is suggested. Between Yukari Güngörmez I and II lies Yukari Güngörmez III towards the southern part of the ridge. Redbrown; plant and shell tempered pasted; reddish buff washed sherds largely with out-turning rims as well as clay slags and blade tools were collected from the surface. |
