| The mound lies approximately 8 km north of Diyarbakir; in Karaç.ali (Tilalo/Tilali) village. It is a quite large mound with a height of 30 m and covers an area of 250-275 m due to the distribution of sherds. The modern village lies on the eastern skirts of the mound while it is occupied by the modern cemetery on the top and the northern skirts. The fresh water spring approximately 50 m north of the mound must have been the water supply for the settlement. A surface collecting has been conducted in 1963 as a part of the Southeastern Anatolian Survey. The finds date to Uruk Period (with uncertainty); EBA; IA; and Medieval Period. The location code is S 58 / 1. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
