The mound lies in the vicinity of Yenice Village; 1.7 km north of Beyköy junction on Adana-Karatas motorway; south of Adana Province. It is 3 m high and 100 m in diameter. The site is discovered during the 1951 Cilicia Survey conducted by M.V. Seton-Williams. The main settlement on the mound dates to the 2nd and 1st Millennium BC. It is claimed that a Chalcolithic Age settlement exists below; due to the chaff-faced ware sherds collected from the surface. These correspond to the 9th phase of ASPRO. The site requires further investigation. |
