It lies where the Satirhöyük rocks are located; northeast of Sakçagözü District of Gaziantep Province. It was discovered during a survey aiming to locate settlements of the Palaeolithic; Epipalaeolithic and Neolithic Ages conducted by a team under A. Garrard. As there are four caves on the rocks; researchers named it Cave No.3 (Findspot No. 12). Pottery belonging to the EBA; the Hellenistic and Roman Periods was recovered as well as samples of the stone industry datable to the Middle Palaeolithic and Bronze Ages [Garrard et al. 1996:61]. No detailed information is provided about the EBA pottery; but presence of the orange-red colored ware is reported. |
