The mound was located northwest of Sanliurfa; north-northwest of Bozova district; approximately 2 km northeast of İgdeli (Saskan) Village; before being inundated by Atatürk Dam. The 13 m high mound measuring 180x90 m; is discovered in 1977 by a team conducted by M. Özdogan. The Chalcolithic Age potsherds collected from the surface are in dark faced burnished ware; chaff-faced ware; and coarse wares. Sherds dating to other horizons belong to EBA; MBA; IA; Classical Period; and Post-Classical Periods. The location code is U 50 / 6. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
