It lies on the western side of the Balikesir-Manisa highway; some 2 km north of Sindirgi District; south of Balikesir Province. It is located in the Kunduran Mevkii of Kurtulus Mahallesi. The mound is locally known as Üveyiktepe Höyüktepe. It is in a plain area and to the northwest flows the Simav stream. It was discovered by D.H. French in 1959. It measures 100x4-5 m. Materials of the EBA and the second millennium BC were collected from the surface. Vast majority of the EBA pottery is burnished in gray; black and brown. Forms of bowls are common. Also found is the red washed pottery. |
