The site is located west of the city of Istanbul; immediately west of the village (now a town) of Selimpasa; in the district of Silivri. The open-air site lies on a ridge; now used as a graveyard. Immediately west of the ridge; which is only 50 m from the Marmara Sea; is the Kavaklidere Valley. The site was discovered by M. Özdogan during his surface survey in Thrace. It has been reported that the site yielded Fikirtepe type ceramics. This site; therefore; is in the area that shows characteristics of the Fikirtepe horizon-style. |
