Immediately west of the ridge; which is only 50 m from the Marmara Sea; is the Kavaklidere Valley. The site was discovered by M. Özdogan during his surface survey in Thrace. It has been reported that the site yielded Fikirtepe type ceramics. This site; therefore; is in the area that shows characteristics of the Fikirtepe horizon-style.
