Location: The mound lies 25 km southwest of the city of Kütahya; 700 m south of Aslanapa Town; left of the southern entrance of the town.
Geography and Environment: A large pit dug years ago is striking on the broad and flat mound; measuring 5 m in height and 140 m in diameter. There is no water source nearby.
History:
Research and Excavation: The mound was recorded by D. H. French and J. Mellaart as a Late Neolithic Age settlement depending on four potsherds. It was revisited by T. Efe in 1991. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Stratigraphy: There is not an exact stratigraphy; because excavations are not conducted yet. The occupation levels are evaluated according to the potsherds recovered from the surface. Early Chalcolithic Age; Middle Chalcolithic Age; and EBA 1 sherds were collected from the surface. In addition; a few EBA 2 sherds were recovered.
Small Finds: Pottery: Chalcolithic Age material is spread out to the surface of the hill because of the large pit on the mound. There are two ware groups in this material [Efe 1993b:20]: Sherds of purplish red slipped ware and Kinik sand ware were recovered. These groups are published in details [Efe 1993b:20; fig.4; 5 / 15-20]. The first ware is buff or light brown fine pasted and red slipped. Similar sherds were found in Asmainler; northwest of the city of Kütahya; in Kanlitas and Orman Fidanligi on Eskisehir Plain. The paste of sherds of Kinik ware is thinner than the sherds from Kinik Höyügü. A sherd in gray burnished ware of Orman Fidanligi; recovered in Aslanapa; hints the dispersion of this ware.

Interpretation and Dating: The potsherds recovered from top of the mound; dating back to the Early and Middle Chalcolithic Age; resemble the sherds of Kanlitas; Asmainler; Kinik; and Orman Fidanligi in Eskisehir. There are also sherds similar to the bowls of Lake District among the Early Chalcolithic Age sherds. The Chalcolithic Age settlement of Aslanapa is agreed to belong to the Early and Middle Chalcolithic Age floord on the ware and formal characteristics.
