It lies about 1 km east of Merikil Village; north of Afsin; north of Kahramanmaras Province. It is locally known as Kizil or Kizilca Höyük. It measures 5 m in height and 40x50 m in dimensions. It rises on a river terrace. The presence of an EBA settlement has been attested by the plain ware recovered. Samples of the orange colored ware can also be dated to the EBA. It was confused with Aristil in von der Osten's survey. But; it was introduced as Merikli in the Özgüç's' survey. Garelli calls this site Melikir. |
