It lies in Küçük Yeniköy (Mandraköy) of Bigadiç District, southeast of Balikesir Province. A stream branching from the Simav Stream passes nearby. A grave (most probably a pithos) was reported [Akurgal 1958:157]. French dated it back to the EBA II. It was re-investigated during the Western Anatolia Survey conducted by French. It was listed among Western Anatolian EBA II settlements; the cemetery probably belongs to the Yortan Culture. Further research is necessary. It is uncertain if it is the same place called Kepsüt by K. Kökten. |
