The mound lies north of Balikesir; on the western shores of Avsa island in Marmara Sea. Stones of walls and foundations; pithos and sherds are observed 1.5-2 m deep under water; since the mound is partially drowned. The site is discovered by M. Özdogan and the remains under water are examined by N. Günsenin in 1994. The mound is settled continuously from Kumtepe I b phase (end of Late Chalcolithic Age) to Early Iron Age according to Özdogan. On the portion of the mound; above water level; Antique remains are existent.
