It lies in the city center of Kirsehir Province. It measures 28 m in height and 290x192 m in dimensions. It is also known as Kale or Kaletepe. It has been severely damaged by the buildings on the foothill as well as the school and its concrete steps on the top hill. The first surface collection was carried out by von der Osten. It was previously introduced by researchers like W. Ainsworth; H. Barth; C. Ritter; W.M. Ramsay and E. Chantre. In 1950s, H.Th. Bossert and U.B. Alkım surveyed the mound [Adibelli 2014:296]. It was published in detail by U.B. Alkim [Alkim 1956:61-77]. The materials collected from the surface such as interiorly and exteriorly black washed and burnished ware; and buff ware with a coarse paste are dated to the EBA. It is suggested that the site had been inhabited from the EBA to the Ottoman Period. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2009, a sounding was made by the Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board of Nevsehir during the restoration of Alaaddin Mosque. In 2012, the excavations were initiated by Kirsehir Museum Directorate. The excavations yielded remains belonging to Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman period [Adibelli 2014].
