| The site lies 1.5 km west of Bugdayli Village; approximately 12 km southwest of Silopi District of Sirnak Province. It is located on the eastern bank of Surik Stream; a branch of the Tigris River. The fertile soil in the area is comprised of alluvial deposits carried by the Tigris. Ýt measures 130 m from east to west and 200 m from north to south. Amarsava was discovered by G. Algaze during his 1988-89 surface survey in the Cizre-Silopi Region. Algaze reports that pottery fragments from this artifact scatter can be assigned to the Ceramic Neolithic. The site was revisited by a team conducted by G. Kozbe during their survey in 2004; but no Neolithic material mentioned among the surface finds. |
