This site is located southeast of the city of Aydin; near the highway between the towns of Nazilli and Bozdogan; north of Kahve. The mound is 5 m high and it has an 80 m diameter. It was discovered by D.H. French in 1960. In addition to Neolithic finds; the site yielded Early Bronze Age material. During his survey in Western Anatolia; French found Late Neolithic Plain Burnished Ware. The ceramics are handmade; chaff-tempered and well burnished. They have mostly red but also grayish-black slip. The most common vessel shapes are bowls and jars. The site is Late Neolithic in date. |
