It is located close to the village of Yenipayam (Hastek); 5 km west of the town of Agin; northwest of the city of Elazig. This rock shelter lying near Arapkir Stream is 120 m in length. At the eastern extremity of this cave of limestone locates artificial caves; the front portions of which are closed by walls. During the investigations conducted by K. Kökten in 1970; a trial trench was opened in the western extremity of the rock shelter the position of a small hearth was found at the depth of 0.5-0.6 m; together with a fragment of broken pottery thought to belong to EBA [Kökten 1972:3-4]. |
