It is a small mound that lies on a cape 50 m from the sea; 3 km north of Sütlüce Village; about 8 km southwest of Gelibolu. It is located on the northern bank of the Münipbey Stream. There are two fresh water springs on the foothill. It was discovered by M. Özdogan in 1982. Pottery collected exposes that the site had been inhabited from the Late Chalcolithic Age to the Classical Period. Vast majority of of the material recovered belongs to the Classical Period. Pottery of EBA II; Troy I was recovered as well as the pottery belonging to Kumtepe Ib and Early Iron Age. It ıs suggested that it can be a significant site as it has a thick deposit of Troy I. It is coded under G 3 / 2. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
