| Deveboynu Höyük is located at Deveboynu Quarter of Afsin district, Kahramanmaras province. The mound covers an area of approximately 1308 square-meters. There has been out-rimmed and flat-rimmed pottery and cream-colored coated body sherds found at the mound. The red-orange ware has a slightly crude texture. They are coated with the same color as their paste and crudely grit-tempered. Similar pottery has been found at Akbayir I-II, Bozhöyük, Kartalkaya-Körali, Karasüleymanli, Hozan, Karaelbistan and Ortaören within the region and they are dated from the Late Chalcolithic Period to the Early Bronze Age. Another pottery assembladge is the finely burnished, cream-color-coated drabware that dates to the Middle-Late Bronze Age. Although they do not constitute a prominent group, the last pottery assembladge from Deveboynu Höyük is the pale brown, red-coated pottery that dates to the Assyrian Trading Colony Period or the Early Hittite Period. Similar pottery had been found at Tudegin, Çebikçil and Karacaören within the region [Dumankaya et al. 2018: 95-96]. |
