The mound locates at the shore, in the east of Gülbahçe Village, in Urla District of Izmir Province. It is 60 m in diameter and 4-5 m high. The first studies were carried out within the scope of Liman Tepe Excavations by Hayat Erkanal. It was reinvestigated during the survey conducted by T. Caymaz and his team in 2015. There are potsherds dating to EBA and Late Roman-Byzantine periods on the mound. The EBA pottery concentrates on the northern skirt of the mound. These potsherds are hardly fired and have a paste with large grained sand and grit inclusion. They generally have dark surface and are burnished. The vessel types consist of carinated bowls, bowls with inverted rim and round shoulder, necked jars, bowls with high pedestal, and vessels with tripod. These forms are similar to Troia I-II pottery. Scattered EBA potsherds were also determined around Gülbahçe Basilica in the immediate north of the mound. [Caymaz-Emeç 2017:624-6].
