Ç. Çilingiroglu and her team conducted a survey in the area on the andesite bedrock, in the east slope of the hill in the Kömür Cape, in the northern tip of the Karaburun Peninsula of Izmir Province in 2015. Some finds were determined in this area. The stone tool and the fragments of sandstone and andesite on the surface indicate that this area might have been used as a raw material source. The stone tool dating to the Lower Palaeolithic is a biface made out of dark grey colored andesite. This tool is the first Lower Palaeolithic tool that was precisely dated in Karaburun [Çilingiroglu et al. 2017:165]. |
