It locates within the area of mercury mine, in Manastir Mevkii in the Karaburun Peninsula of Izmir Province. Some finds were determined in a gallery opening for mercury mining. Therefore, Hamit Kosay and Hakki Gültekin carried out a 10-day excavation in 1949. As a result of this excavation, roughly made handmade potsherds dating to Chalcolithic, and large numbers of bone tools, ground stone tools, chipped stone tools and stone hammers were found. It was visited during the survey conducted by Ç. Çilingiroglu and her team in 2015. However, the galleries could not be determined [Çilingiroglu et al. 2017:161-2]. |
