The mound lies 12 km northeast of the city of Mus; west of (Goktepe) Kanires village. It is located at the curvature of Murat River. The site was discovered during the survey conducted by M.S. Rothman in 1991. The survey's aim was to indicate the sites that were going to be inundated by Alpaslan Dam. According to the researcher; Late Chalcolithic Age sherds were found on the surface. During the survey conducted by H. Biber and his team, pottery sherds dating to EBA, IA and Middle Age were found [Biber 2016:339].
