| The fortress locates at a height of 2256 m, 500 m north of the Ekinlik Castle, 1 km northeast of Ekinlik Village, in Olur District in Erzurum Province. It overlooks the valleys in the west of the Çoruh Valley reaching to Uzundere-Tortum road, and the ancient roads heading to Senkaya-Sarikamis-Ardahan. It was discovered during the survey conducted by Alpaslan Ceylan and his team in 2014. It is suggested that the fortress functioned as a watchtower. It was built in the cyclopean technique. It measures 22 m in length and 12 m in width. Quite a little pottery sherds were found. It is believed that it is one of the early examples of the nomadic culture [Ceylan et al. 2016:458]. |
