The fortress is located on the steep rock with a height of 1371 m, 500 m west of Ortatepe Village of Iliç District in Erzincan Province. It is surrounded by fertile fields and water sources. It was investigated during the survey conducted by Alpaslan Ceylan and his team in 2014. It extends in the north-south direction and spread an area of 400 m including its additional sections. There are unfinished structures resembling rock graves carved into bedrock on the western skirt of the fortress. On the eastern slope, there are architectural remains built in the cyclopean technique. Smelting areas locate around the fortress. The pottery sherds found in the area are dated to EBA and IA. It is suggested that the fortress was in use in the Urartian Period [Ceylan et al. 2016:451].
