During the survey conducted by Kadriye Özçelik and her team in Su Deresi (Kahyalar) Mevkii located on the wooded and quite rough slope on Aydinlar-Karaçay road in Honaz District in Denizli Province in 2014, chipped stone finds dating to the Lower and Middle Palaeolithic were discovered. The Lower Palaeolithic find consist of a bifacial chopper, large Clactonian flakes, cores with 1 or 2 removal scars, notched and denticulated tools with Clactonian flake pillar. These finds were mainly produced from yellow flint with grey vein. However, it is observed that the raw material has distinctively changed in the Middle Palaeolithic. Among the flints in various quality and color, there are non-local honey-colored flints of high quality. The Middle Palaeolithic finds consist of two Mousterian points, transversal side scrapers, denticulated tools and cores from which flakes were removed. Along with the fact that there are finds in high quantity, the existence of knapping wastes, core fragments and rubble indicate that the area might have been functioned as a settlement [Özçelik et al. 2016:382-3].
