There are two settlements located in Upper Menderes Basin in Çivril District of Denizli Province. One of them is situated on the plateau and the other is located in Küfü Çayi valley. It was discovered during the survey conducted by Dedeoglu in 2011. They are 10 km far from each other. Kocakaya settlement measures 0.7 hectares. Potsherds known from Late Chalcolithic levels of Beycesultan and the other Late Chalcolithic settelements in the valley were found on both of the settlement. These wares consists of handmade vessels with brown, grey and black colored paste, grit and chaff tempered, self slipped, slipped vessels, jars with simple rim, semi-globular and conical body. In EBA I, the occupation continued [Dedeoglu 2013:216]. |
