It is located about 5 km north of Çat District of Erzurum Province. It was discovered during the survey conducted by Özgül and his team in 2011. Tuzla Creek flows from the west skirts of the fortress. There is a pond on the east of Gaban Kalesi (I) and the fortress is located about 2 km west of Yukari Çat Village. It is rich in water sources and located in an area with strategically significant position in which important roads intersect. A great number of structures were seen inside the fortress. There is a pond on the east of Gaban Kalesi (I). It is thought that the pond is contemporary with the fortress. The pond measures 28 m long and 22m wide. The water of pond is still available. However, the water level of the pond decreased. It is suggested that this pond was used for providing water for the fortress. Based on the collected sherds and the construction technique of the fortress, it is dated to EBA and IA. It is 54 m long and 28 m wide. Traces of defense wall were seen on the skirts. It is observed that the north section of the fortress is quite safeguarded [Özgül et al. 2013:279].
