There are large fertile lands between Aliköse Channel and Karacaören Creek flowing from the middle of the valley to the east. The closest center of population to the beginning of the channel is Alçali Quarter of Kayaören Village located 3.5-4 km northeast.
History:
Research and Excavation: The channel was discovered during the survey performed by O. Belli in 2011.
Stratigraphy:
Small Finds: Aliköse Channel was built on the southern skirt where Sinek Plateau meets the large mountain plains and it was built by blocking the narrow valley, where Karacaören Creek that is formed with rain, snow and mineral waters flows through, with stones and transferring some parts of the creek water to the channel dug into the soil. This technique is also used in Urartian irrigation facilities. The channel flowing towards the east is approx. 80-90 cm in width and 60-70 cm in depth. But it was found out that it was wider and deeper when the first time it was built. The channel was built to provide water to the fields that couldn't be irrigated by Karacaören Creek. The channel with a length of 11-12 km was working until 20 years ago. It was built in the second half of 7th century BC.
