The site lies 2.5 km north of Karain Cave; close to the spring of Karagöz; which is among the Kirkgöz springs. It is located in the limits of a limestone quarry; which is still being used. The mouth of the cave looks towards east. It is necessary to use a rope to enter the cave. The site was discovered by the excavation team of Karain in 1984 and revisited in 1993. It consists of two large galleries and small cavities. Sherds dating to the Chalcolithic Age and EBA; animal and human bones were found on the cave bed [Yalçinkaya 1995b:64]. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
