It covers an area of 44 hectare which contains the remains belonging to Classical, Hellenistic and Byzantine periods. This part is called Upper City. The Lower City which is located near the Ancient Harbor on the eastern ridge of Toraman Hill was the trade center of the city. It thrived in Hellenistic Period. The necropolis is located on the east of Kalkanca Quarter and the eastern slope of Kürdün River and the area where Toraman hill and the contemporary cemetery are located. During the survey conducted by Dönmez, a potsherd with painted decoration belonging to Late IA was recovered. This potsherd is one of the earliest finds of Kara Samsun/Amisos [Dönmez 2003:3].
