It is located on the south side of Yatagan-Milas motorway, on the southeast of Stratonikeia in Mugla Province. It is 2 km far by crow files from the city centre. It was discovered during the survey within the vicinity of Stratonikeia conducted by Sögüt in 2010. A durable fortification is located on Kale Hill / Asar Hill and the city wall encircles the hill by forming an oval shaped border. Natural ridges of bedrock were also used for the well-preserved stone masonry of the city wall on the south. Several phases have been observed on the city wall. The section which was erected with polygonal stones belongs to Late Classic/Early Hellenistic Period. The repairs made in Byzantine Period can be seen on it. 4 semi-circle planned towers are located along the city wall and there is one rectangular planned tower on the westernmost part as well. The only door opening which could be identified so far is located on the southern (the southeast?) slope. The collected sherds from the surface of the hill confirm the date which were referred for the architectural remains. A bowl type vessel with a meander motif indicates the date of 7th century BC.In addition, potsherds dated to 5th century BC, a large number of Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine potsherds were encountered [Sögüt 2012:409-410].
