Known as Hacilardami; the ancient city of Kolossai lies 16 km east of Denizli Province. It is located on the southern bank of the Büyük Menderes River. The settlement consists of two cones which are being cultivated at the present. EBA pottery was collected from the surface by J. Mellaart and the site was dated to EBA II. It evidences that the first occupation of the ancient cities usually dates back to the EBA. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
