It is located in Derebogaz Mevkii, about 4 km northeast of Hasretpinar Village, about 8.5 km southwest of Malazgirt District of Mus Province. It was discovered during the survey performed by Biber and his team in 2010. It lies on the hill with a height of 1582 m above sea level which is located between Bogaz Creek on the west and a small creek on the east. South and southwest of the hill are less inclined while the other parts are steeper. It is with a height of 40 m on the west and 36 m on the north. The castle in trapezoid plan measures about 55x35 m. On the northeast section of the hill, there are remains of two and three leveled ramparts built at 2.5-3 m intervals. On the north of the castle, there is a necropolis 300x200 m in dimensions which extends in a wide area on the west and south sections. The graves are in the form of burial chambers built by stone masonry. Only one of them is a cist grave. IA sherds and an Urartian stamp seal were recovered on the surface. All these finds and remains indicate that this area was an important center during MIA [Biber et al. 2012:389]. |
