The site is located beside Güney Mahalle village of Kurtalan district of the city of Siirt. It was discovered during the survey jointly conducted by the University of Istanbul and the Chicago Oriental Institute in 1963. Finds were abundant at the south and northwest of the site. The earliest finds are thought to be dating to the Halaf-Ubaid Transition Period. The location code of the site is S 63 / 13.
