The 110x80 m mound used to lie east-southeast of Elazig; 500 m north-northeast of Alisam. It was discovered by R. Whallon and S. Kantman in 1967 and was inundated by Keban Dam. According to Whallon; the mound measures 1.5-2 m in height while Duru claims that it is 6 m. Karasu passes north of the site; near which the ruins of an antique bridge foot are observed. Sherds of wheel-made chaff-faced ware; belonging to Amuq F; were found on the surface. It is thought that the major settlements date to the Hittite and Medieval Periods; and the minor settlements date to the EBA and IA. The location code of the site is O 54 / 27. |
